InklingsWhat is Inklings? Inklings is the club that runs the high school newspaper. Inklings is a monthly newspaper with its main sections consisting of News, Opinions, Features, and Sports. The News section includes school and community news. The Opinions section consists of an editorial, letters to the editor, a cartoon, and columns. The Features section includes movie reviews, theater reviews, a faculty spotlight, a featured artist, and a two-page doubletruck about an issue that students can relate to. The Sports section highlights two featured athletes a month and also covers sports at Staples. How is Inklings run? Inklings is a student run newspaper. Students do everything from assigning and writing articles to taking pictures and laying out the newspaper. Each month the editorial staff holds a meeting to decide what events the newspaper should cover. A few days later, a general meeting is held usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon after school. The general meeting is for the editors to assign articles, graphics, and pictures to the Inklings staff. The staff has about one week to complete their assignments and to turn in their assignments to the section editors. Once the section editors have edited the articles, the section editors turn in the articles to the Editor-in-Chief, and one she has edited the articles, the layout staff begins to layout and piece together the paper every day after school for about two weeks. The paper then goes off to the printer and is distributed monthly. What does the future hold for Inklings? Right now, the biggest project Inklings is working on with the Staples Computer Club is Inklings on the Web, the internet home of Inklings. The editorial staff of Inklings is also looking forward to changing the newspaper with new fonts, layout ideas, and different ideas for content. Inklings Staff 1999-2000:
