Asian Cultural Society Meetings MONDAY, after school in Culinary arts room Fall 2000 marks the beginning of another year for Asian Cultural Society. This is the Year of the Golden Dragon according to the Lunar Calendar. Last year, ACS invited Ms. Phoebe Eng to guest speak in celebration of the Chinese New Year and of her critically acclaimed book, Warrior Lessons. Copies are available at the Staples library. See highlights of her memorable visit here (with photos). We also had movie nights, celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival, initiated a sisterhood with the New Canaan Asian Club, and had our annual Spring Banquet at Taipan.
In other news, ACS's new advisor is Chef Gans! She is a wonderful asset to the club, and she'll let us eat all the food we want! Our big October event is the Apple Festival fundraiser on October 21-22. We will be selling dumplings in the cafeteria. Much thanks to the generous donations of Sakura, Ship's Corner, Tiger Bowl and Oriental Food Market in Norwalk. This wouldn't have been possible without you! Though ACS is still a young club, we are glad to see such a large underclassman representation. Remember, all are welcome at meetings! particularly freshmen and sophomores! Remember: Asian Cultural Society meetings Mondays, after school in the culinary arts room. Hope to see you there!
